A good ceiling fan keeps a room comfortable and cuts your reliance on air-conditioning, lowering your electricity bill. At Big Bath our ceiling fans feature quiet, efficient DC motors, built-in LED lighting and remote control, across 10 showrooms nationwide.
Types of Ceiling Fans
Fans with LED Light
A ceiling fan with a built-in LED light does two jobs in one fitting — air movement and room lighting — ideal for living rooms and bedrooms.
Remote-Control Fans
Adjust speed, light and direction from a remote, with no pull-chain or wall dial — convenient for bedrooms and high ceilings.
DC-Motor Fans
Brushless DC motors use less power, run quieter and offer more speed steps than traditional AC fans — worth the upgrade.
How to Choose the Right Ceiling Fan (Quick Checklist)
- Match blade size to the room. Smaller blades (under 48") for bedrooms, 48–52" for average living rooms, 60"+ for large or open spaces.
- Pick a DC motor. Quieter, more energy-efficient and longer-lasting than AC; ideal for bedrooms.
- LED or not? A built-in LED light replaces a separate ceiling light — one fitting, less wiring.
- Remote or wall control? Remote is convenient, especially for high ceilings or bedrooms.
- Check ceiling height. Low ceilings need a flush-mount (hugger) fan; high ceilings need a down-rod.
Ceiling Fan Features to Look For
- DC motor — quiet, efficient, long life.
- Built-in LED light — fan and light in one.
- Remote control — adjust speed and light anywhere.
- Reversible airflow — cooling in summer, mixing in cooler months.
- Matching finish — to suit your room decor.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size ceiling fan do I need?
Match the blade span to the room: under 48 inches for a small bedroom, 48–52 inches for an average living room, and 60 inches or more for a large or open-plan space. Too small and it will not move enough air; too big and it overwhelms a small room.
DC or AC motor ceiling fan?
A DC (brushless) motor uses less electricity, runs quieter and offers more speed steps than a traditional AC motor — it is worth the upgrade, especially for bedrooms where noise matters. AC fans are cheaper and still perfectly serviceable.
Should I get a ceiling fan with a light?
If the fan is going in the centre of the room where your ceiling light currently is, yes — a fan with a built-in LED gives you both airflow and lighting in one fitting, so you do not lose your main light.
Can a ceiling fan lower my electricity bill?
Yes. Running a fan lets you set the air-conditioning a few degrees higher for the same comfort, and fans use far less power than an AC unit. Used together, a fan and AC cost less to run than AC alone.
Do ceiling fans cool the room?
A fan cools people, not the room — it creates a wind-chill effect on your skin. That is why you should turn it off when no one is in the room. In cooler months, reverse the direction to mix warm air down from the ceiling.
Can I install a ceiling fan myself?
It is possible, but a ceiling fan must be securely fixed to a ceiling joist (not just the plasterboard) and wired safely, especially with a light. We recommend our installers handle it for safety and to avoid wobble.
Do you deliver and install ceiling fans?
Yes. Big Bath has 10 showrooms nationwide and in-house installers across Peninsular Malaysia, with ready stock in Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Kuching (Sarawak). WhatsApp your nearest branch.
